Derek's eyes flashed angrily. Who was she kidding? "I am very concerned
for Kat's safety," he retorted his voice low but the irritation he was
feeling very clear. In addition his accent was becoming thicker and more
distinguishable. "My God, do you really think I'd want you to stay here if
I thought it was dangerous for her? All I'm saying is that we are better
equipped to protect you here. This island is a lot more secure than your
neighborhood, we have the proper equipment to deal with things. You have a
large german sheperd next door and an inadequate alarm system that is
unpredictable at best." He rubbed a hand across his face. "This has
nothing to do with MY ego." He really was furious by this point, no matter
what he did it was always the wrong thing. She mistook nearly everything he
said when she was this emotional!

The conversation was interrupted by Nick and Julia's arrival. His foul mood
did not improve in the slightest when he saw Julia's condition. Did he have
to lock them all in the house to keep them from inflicting harm on
themselves! With the exception of Alex, his stead fast team was acting more
like a teenager than the one teen they had in the house!
