Marissa thought about it for a moment, then gave her friend a look, bouncing
an idea off of her to see what she thought about it "I'm thinking of getting
Claire and Brady to look him up on the net.. those two can dig up anything
on anyone it seems."
Then she turned back to the water "They were at the house when I left.
Doubt they'll go anywhere unless it's to find us. I'm just not sure what
I'd tell a guy I hadn't known all this time. I mean what do you say to a
man that has no clue as to your existence and after 24 years suddenly gets
someone introducing themselves as your kid?"
"And why.." she sighed expressively, picking up a stone and throwing it out
to the water and watching as steam rose up from the splash "Did my mother
keep me a secret all this time?"
Was it because of....? she started to think to herself, her gaze riveted on
the now dissipated steam as she began to wonder.
"You know," Samantha said thoughtfully, "I think checking him out first is a
good idea. Maybe, the reason she kept it secret is because he's an axe
murder or something. Or just a major jerk. Wait till you find out before
making a decision about meeting him. Then, if you decide to just tell him
the truth. It usually never fails. Maybe, we should get back to the house.
If those two come looking for us they could end up being out all night and
then I'd feel guilty."
