Marissa swallowed once and gripped the dish towel tighter and wrung it a
little, not noticing the marks showing up on it as she kept looking over at
Sam and trying to stay... well, calm.

"H.. hi.. uh, hello." she said, not sure what to say at this point. Then
she mentally chided herself. With everything she had done; work, experience
and everything else... she needed to get a grip!

She closed her eyes and put her forehead against the cool blond-wooded
cabinet before her before starting again.

"I guess it's safe to assume you know about me... and mom?" she asked before
adding quietly "I'm sorry you didn't get to talk to her.. before she died.
The.. the lawyer said she had sent you the letter about me - almost a week
before..."

Which meant Sara was going to tell Milo about his daughter before her death,
which was, in its own way, tragic.

She reached over to the sink and ran the cold water, just barely dropping
the towel and letting the water run over her hands before turning off the
tap and picking the towel back up.

She looked back at Sam and chewed her bottom lip before adding just as
quietly "I'm not sure what to say now..... Sounds strange doesn't it? Find
out you have a father after all this time, have questions running around in
my head and I don't know what to say..."

And she realized she was rambling and so stopped, giving Milo a chance to
speak up.

Samantha moved over to her friend's side putting an arm around her. She
hadn't seen her so nervous in years. It just wasn't something Reese did.
"He's just a guy," she whispered, "nothing to be afraid of. Now me Imight
have reason to worry," she grinned at her friend, referring to her ony
conversation with the man.
