tracks."
-Nick-
"And what would we tell him?" I asked. "That we're going over to Rachel's to
go snoop around her house and to look at files we aren't suppose to be
looking in?"
Alex
"My, my, aren't you Mr. logic tonight," I asked with a teasing grin.
"Where's that impulsive free spirit I fell for?" I patted his chest lightly
as I headed out, "c'mon Nick, take me away from all this," I chuckled. "The
sooner all this is behind us the better."
-Nick-
"He's stuck in the grass back at Rachel's." I jokingly said then headed on
out myself. "And where would you like me to take you? Out of the city? Out
of the state, no wait out of the country right?"
Alex
I laughed, "ummm, nice thought...Paris...no wait, strike that we'd end up at
the Legacy house...and that puts London out...and Cairo...why is it all the
good places are already taken?" I asked him. "We'll just have to settle for
Rachel's...and maybe later we can escape for more fun."
-Nick-
"So are we going to tell anyone where we are going or are we just bailing?"
I
asked. I didn't feel like telling anyone I just wanted to get out of here
get
there and get this whole snooping around business done and over with.
Alex
I saw the look on his face, "we just go," I replied. "That's what you want
right?" I took his hand and exited the control room, leading him down to the
foyer and out into the grounds. "for the record, I don't like this whole
thing any more than you do."
-Nick-
She read my mind! "Its what I want." I took hold of her hand and got lead
outside. "Good to know that I'm not the only one hating this. You know when
they find out we did this we might end up losing some trust..."
Alex
I moved to face him, "right now we're pretty much in that position
already...aren't we?" I sighed, "we've been lying to them for months, what
makes you think that they trust us right now, in time we'll regain it, but
at the moment..." I shrugged. "At least we have each other."
-Nick-
"No we aren't. We didn't exactly lie about anything. We just never clued
them in that we were together. What we are about to do now is completely
different." I glanced down at the ground then slowly looked back up at her.
"Are you sure want to do this?"
Alex
I stepped closer to him and wrapped my arms around his neck hugging him
tight, "what's more important Nick, loosing a little credibility or keeping
Rachel safe?" I already knew the answer in my mind, and I was pretty sure
he'd feel the same.
-Nick-
I slipped my arms around her and hugged back just as tight. There was no
need to think of answer for that question, I'd rather lose credibility then
a
friend. "Lets go then."
Alex
I nodded, disentangling myself from him reluctantly and moved to the car. I
slid into the passenger seat and looked over at Nick, "so, I guess this is
the start of out life of crime huh?"
-Nick-
I got in and looked over at Alex. "The start huh? Trying to tell me we're
going to more criminal acts?"
Alex
I laughed, "maybe," I teased. "All this is starting to become a habit! I
suppose I shouldn't have expected to keep all my naive charm with you about
though?" I raised an eyebrow and nodded to the gates, "let's do this before
we change our minds."
-Nick-
"We still have a whole lot of time to change our minds..." I looked forward
again then drove us back to Rach's place.
Alex
Changing our minds? I doubted that was going to be an option especially as
we were here already. "I wonder if the guy is still watching the place," I
looked around the neighbourhood trying to see what lay beyond the
obvious...nothing I could see.
