Samantha:
"Probably because you are nervous," Samantha told her.  "You look fine.
It's been a very long day and too much happened.  You're just worn out.  So,
did he seem like a nice guy?"

Reese:
She couldn't really make a judgment call with only a few minutes but she shrugged and answered "He seemed okay.  As nervous as I was.  Said he was sorry he missed the funeral and such..."

Then she looked at her friend and gave a half smile "I'm not the only one that had a long day.  Come on, let's tuck you in and try to get some rest."

She already knew what she was going to do and it didn't involve sleeping any time soon.

There was a rule -- or had been when mom was alive -- and now she was about to break it.

She was going to go up to the attic, where she knew mom had kept her most personal things - which most likely included diaries and such.  Something that would tell her or at least give her a glimpse of why a secret had been kept as long as it had.

And Reese, tired or not, was determined to find it out.

She just wasn't going to make Sam do it with her.  Her friend had gone more than the extra mile today.  She couldn't ask her to extend or exhaust her any further.  Hell, Reese felt somewhat guilty that Sam had been stuck with the guests while she was in with the lawyer and then later left.

Some pal she was.
