As Julia was being cared for in the mortal realm, the Arch Angel Michael was
before the Council....

"The evil approaches the House," One spoke "Right now it does not recognize
her, but Michael, in her state now, if it does, it will home in on her.  The
temptation to take what she possesses in power will be great."

"It won't recognizer her.  It's already seen her once and dismissed her,"
Michael pointed out.

"Only because she was weakened as she was.  But she will get stronger.  For
a being from hell with the opportunity at their hands to gain a power of the
Army of Light....."

They knew that the evil's focus was turned toward others right now and that
it bought them time -- how much or to what extent was hard to tell, as each
mortal being had the freedom of choice and therefore could change an
outcome.  But the danger to the Light was obvious and that was what they had
to contemplate now.

"Julia would die before letting them have it." Michael pointed out, not
liking the prospect at all but knowing it to be true.

"When the time comes, she may not have the option of choice as to whether
they get it or not." the One countered quietly.

"Then," Michael raised an eyebrow, having waited for this point in order to
step in officially "I would say that initiates the need for heavenly
intervention on the Arch Angel level.  The danger has not been raised to our
own security."

The One smiled softly.  Even they had rules to abide by in heaven and until
this very moment, Michael and the others had been unable to give any kind of
aid to Julia or the dangers abound.  But now that it involved direct danger
to heaven itself....

"Your allowance is made, Michael." the One granted the aide "But remember,
mortal actions, deeds and decisions must still be made by those and not
interfered with at any price.  Your duty is to make sure the evil does not
succeed should it discover the power which she holds and tries to take it."

Michael nodded once, jaw clenching, as he disappeared........

....... and reappeared in a casual sweater and jeans just on the other side
of the bushes where Katherine and the man stood now.

"Katherine," he came out from behind it and looked right at the adult as he
lowered himself to the girl's level and then met her gaze, smiling in
greeting "I think it best if you go inside.  Julia's worried about you and
in her room and Derek is looking for you."

He stroked her hair then, gently, and let a little of his presence seep
through the contact so the child would know that he would bring her no harm
and could trust him.  Children were good that way, their instincts unclouded
by that which is given to mortals over time in ways of hurt, deception and
the like.  Then he stood and waited until she had left, his gaze once again
latching on to the one before him as he crossed his arms in front of him.

Once she was out of site he nodded once, a grim, determined and yet a ghost
of a smile curving his lips as he nodded once at him "I'll be seeing you."

And then he faded in a shimmer of golden light.
