Kat was riding her bike around the garden path in large circles near the
rose bushes. As she turned to come back around again, she spotted a man,
who looked as though he'd been standing there a long time, but she didn't
remember seeing him there before. He didn't look like any of the people
Derek had brought to Lunch either. The little girl hesitate, but then
approached him, wanting to be helpful. "Hi," she said cheerfully, "are you
looking for someone? Derek's in the house I can go get him if you want."

I looked down at the small girl with a slight smile, well well, what did we
have here? "There's no need for that," I told her, "I'm sure I'll see Derek
in the fullness of time..." I bent down to look at her, meet her gaze, "how
could I leave such a charming creature as you...what is your name?" I asked
her. There was something about this child...something powerful...perhaps her
allegiance would prove useful.
