Julia sat at a console and set Kat up on the one next to her, splitting her
screen to let Kat do both the first hunt and the added idea of security.

"We're going to make a security expert out of you yet, Kit Kat." she
commented with a grin as she finished and then called up the schematics of
the House and grounds on the main viewer and started on the demos she had
told Derek about. She absently adjusted her chair as her mind drifted to
earlier before she started typing on the ten-key with one hand to start the
process and massaging her forehead with the other.

Hard headed people, she thought with a soft, wry smile, thinking of more
than just the knock they had had.

She was recalling how it felt when......... she mentally sighed and closed
her eyes, fingers stilling for a moment.

If Derek knew what she was thinking he'd probably order her back to the
second floor thinking he had not only Sam's hormones to deal with but her
own.

And why wasn't she ordering herself to straighten up and stop thinking about
Derek other than that of the Precept of this House?

Because, she answered herself, you've never thought of him like that and you
know it.

Doesn't matter, she countered herself, he'd probably dismiss it anyway,
despite what she had seen in his gaze earlier. He had moved you away and
left as fast as he could without being rude, didn't he. What's to say he
wasn't sparing you the embarrassment of letting you know you made an ass of
yourself?

The next time she sighed it escaped her and she opened her eyes, looking up
at the main screen but not really seeing it.

Way to go Walker.

Kat:
Kat was having a great time entering everything wierd thing she could think
of, that was real of course. She'd included lady bugs and buterflies and
tree frogs and dust mites and emus and anything else that crosed her mind.
She was having a great time. Though she hadn't found Waldo, so hadn't won a
prize, but this was better anyway. She'd never really liked that Waldo
character. When Julia sighed she looked away from her screen. "What's
wrong," she asked curiously.
