Sam was already at the freezer filling her hands with cubes.  As she rushed
ot her friend's side sha glanced at Milo.  "I'm sorry," she said and she
was, at least for sounding harsh.  Not for what she'd said.  "You're
upsetting her," she said a bit more civilly.  "She doesn't do this unless
she's upset."

Derek:
What now, Derek thought as his phone began to ring.  He sighed and gave
Julia and apologetic look before releasing her with one arm and pulling the
phone from his pocket.  He flipped it open and spoke into it.  His real
desire was to tell the person that, <this better be good>, however instead
he simply said, "yes," rather curtly.
