"We'll do something about that as soon as the doctor shows up. I'm sure he
won't want us in his way. Derek took the phone and watched her leave before
answering it. "Derek Rayne," he listened for a moment as the guard
explained what was going on at the gate. "Yes...all right, send them to the
gate house."
NM:
The Nurse accepted her credentials back and looked at the Aide before
nodding and then sitting back.
Soon they were following the instructions the guard at the gate had given
them and were pulling up behind the main house and up to a gatehouse.
Nurse Brody got out of the passenger side of the car and went to the trunk,
the aide following and getting the first of the equipment the doctor would
need and following the nurse to the door.
She knocked twice and straightened her shoulders when the door was answered.
When she and the aid were shown in she entered first the house and then the
bedroom where the patient and a woman were.
Julia was just straightening from having been sitting on the edge of the bed
and brushing Rachel's hair out of her eyes. She looked up and remained
where she was as the older woman was.
Nurse Brody nodded for the aid to start setting up, turning her gaze to both
Julia and Derek "We need to get started as soon as possible. The doctor is
to be here within the hour and we need to have preliminaries done by then."
It wasn't said cruely but it was down to business. She wanted to make sure
Rachel Corrigan got the best possible help and that meant getting things
done.
"If you would Doctor Rayne," she said as she gently led them out of the
bedroom "I need a list of those that are allowed to visit with Ms. Corrigan
in the coming days but I will be sure to let you know as soon as possible
when the doctor clears her to have visitors."
