Sam closed her eyes for a moment. "I left....because I didn't want to say
something that would cause trouble. I don't know what the hell I did, but I
upset her and the sister and it really pissed me off. I was trying really
hard to be civil and it was.....like a slap in the face. I know it wasn't
Julia that said something, but...I felt like she wanted to. I didn't want
to really embarrass you or myself, so I decided to leave before I did
something I'd regret."

Reese couldn't help it and blew a raspberry before asking "You mean to tell
me you got upset because Julia held her tongue when you undermined her
instruction to.. what's her name, Kat?"

"You," she pointed out in a half tease "Who would have been more than
tempted if another teacher horned in on your class and told the students to
ignore your instruction and just do what they said to pull that person out
of the classroom by their ear and asked if they were on crack or something?"

"Of course she'd want to say something. You would in her place too."

"Sam," she looked her friend in the eyes and asked honestly, wanting to know
"Don't you think that maybe... this has something to do with a certain
professor you have your eye on and maybe that made it more.... irritatingly
more itchy for you to take when someone did say something? I mean admit it.
He wasn't around and you two were actually getting along without the forced
and yet faked smile."

She tried to make her point without alienating her friend and looked at the
ceiling of the car for inspiration. Darn thing wasn't any help either.
