Derek moved slightly to the side and then forward to stand beside Julia.  He
looked Edwin in the eyes.  "You already know I won't sell the painting no
matter the price.  That in itself should tell you that I'm different than
what you expected.  If I were you, I think I'd take the risk.  What do you
have to lose at this point?"  His voice was tense, but it's normal volume.


Why Michael's portrait? she wondered, then thought about it.  Michael was an
Archangel.  Religion.  And people did some odd things for religion.  So what
was it that Lyons hoped to gain or do with his image?

She decided to add on to the question she had asked just seconds ago, tone
thoughtful still "What sin's got you going out to act out a further wrong by
breaking one of the golden rules.  Thou shall not steal.... "

Whatever it was had to be considered a 'worse' sin. So...... "Affair or
death...?"

She hadn't realized she asked that last part out loud until she spoke it but
she watched Lyons for his response.
