Derek sat down beside her pulling his knees up in front of him and resting
one arm on them. The other he put around Julia. He watched the waves under
the moonlight. Then he turned his hazel eyes to Julia.
"How old were you when you decided you liked the beach," he asked suddenly.
She opened her eyes and smiled before, being Julia and knowing they were at
an angle they were assured peace from being spotted or interrupted without a
good amount of notice, she shifted enough so that she was sitting in front
of him with both his arms around her and legs still bent on either side of
her and answered "When I was ten. During my parents ceremony."
"They got married on the beach."
She chuckled, looking out over the water and remembering "Mom tried tossing
me the bouquet and the wind caught it. Harry, our dog, ended up fetching it
from the water and bringing it to me. Darn smart dog."
"We all ended up taking off our shoes, socks and stockings respectfully, and
playing in the sand and more muddysand parts."
"Should have seen the reception party."
She looked at his watch and smiled. It was after midnight. Another day
technically, so she named off something else.
"Your arms. Waking up in them."
