They both fell quiet then, thinking about that.  Then Alex grinned and stood, picking up her bags "The rest I can ask you while we're shopping some more.  Come on, Walker.  We have to get you back into shape for the shop-decathlon at Christmas time."

Julia laughed at that and followed, tossing her near empty plastic glass into the nearest trash bin.

<the next part happens after Nick and Derek stake out the house and they're or Derek (if Nick stays behind) back at the House or whaddevah>

Alex was checking out with the cashier, Julia having already finished with her purchases, and turned to her friend, mock chastising "You should have bought the red one."

Julia grinned and looked at her watch - having finally broke down and bought one since she had to keep an eye on the time now with driving Kat to and from school.

"You can get it for Christmas - oh it's time to get going.  Kat gets out in thirty minutes and I want to make sure we aren't backed up with the rest of the school traffic."

They finished at the stores and headed out, putting their things in the back before heading out.

Alex watched her and the small smile on Julia's lips.

"You're actually liking this, aren't you?  This whole.. domestic thing instead of being in the middle of the action?"

Julia gave her a dry look "Keeping up with Kat and helping with the house and the Luna Foundation is a far cry from boredom."

Then she smiled "But yeah, I'm liking it.  Liking it a lot."

They made it to Kat's school right on time, hearing the bell that let out the students to meet with the parents and people picking them up.

"Note to self," Julia grimaced, at the corner of the school and waiting to be directed onto the main street and the spot Kat had shown her that morning "Leave earlier to beat this crowd."

And crowd it was.  She had seen better out of the highway jams.

The crossing guard lifted her sign for the opposite traffic to stop and waved for Julia to proceed.

Making sure traffic was clear enough, Julia turned to the right and got in line behind the other cars crawling along "You think these people suffer road rage?"

Alex chuckled and joked "I bet this is where the road rage statistics come from."

Julia spotted Kat just then as she laughed at Alex's joke "There she is."
