<this happens after Julia and Derek have some time to talk to each other, like right on the tail end of their talk or something>

Philip leaned against the counter and just stared at the sandwich meat, as if it could give him the answers he wasn't even sure he knew the questions to.

Barbara entered the kitchen just then and tilted her head to the side, noting his almost pale features.  He looked like he had just been kicked in the stomach or something.

"Is everything all right, Father Callahan?"

Philip looked at her, for once not correcting her to call him Philip.

"I, I'm not entirely sure." he replied, running his fingers through his dark hair and trying to get his equilibrium back.  He felt like the older brother that had just found out his kid sister had been knocked up.  Even thinking that made him blush furiously "I, I think I need te talk to Julia when she gets back."

"Oh, Julia is back.  She's in the library with Derek." Barbara told him but adding "Although I think they need to speak for a moment alone.  Are you feeling well? Here, come sit down.  I'll go get her if you really need me to..."

Philip took her advice and sat but he shook his head against bothering Julia while talking to Derek.  He needed time to gather himself together.  Maybe he should go hunt Nick down.

But that didn't make sense.  Nick was in a relationship with Alex.  Philip had been gone for a while but he knew that.  But it was Julia that had come back and Philip remembered how Nick had felt about her.

He wiped his face and groaned "Bloody hell."

"You found out, didn't you?" Barbara asked, sitting in the chair next to him and guessing the reason for the sudden change in the priest's behavior.

Philip looked up at her then, blinking once "You know?"

"If it's about Julia? Yes.  If it isn't then I might but you'll have to be more specific with me before I know for sure."

"Bloody hell." he repeated.  Even Barbara knew and no one had bothered to tell him?  He stood up and started to walk out "You said they were in th' library?"

"Oh my..." Barbara watched him before following with her usual calm aplomb  "Don't you think it would be best if..."

Philip reached the door and, since it was open, knocked on the door jam.

<whatever the love birds are talkin' about at this point, well the priest is going to interrupt *wg*>
