Derek took the pill bottle from her hands and read it, giving her the proper
dosage and pocketing the pills. After she took them, he took her hand,
linking their fingers together and heading downstairs and out the front
door. He was silent until they reached the garden and began walking down
the path.
"The council is on it's way, along with Franklin Cross." He took a deep
breath trying to keep the temper he was feeling out of his voice. "Until
this is over...you'll have to move back to your room...and we'll all have to
pretend that we have not been involved. Their can't be any mention of the
baby or our wedding." He stopped and turned towards her.
"I don't want to do this," he told her, "but it's necessary. For safety and
our daughter's. Julia....I'm sorry."
Julia stopped, her insides feeling suddenly cold. She wasn't sure if she
was going to be physically ill or not and fought the feeling while showing
nothing of the emotions she was feeling in her expression. At least her
facial expression that was. Her eyes flashed a deep hurt before she slipped
her hand out of his and turned back around, heading back toward the house.
She set the glass of milk on the first table she got to and headed toward
the stairs.
