"Wierd stuff mostly," Sam said as she stared out the window at the glossy
surface of the water. "Like last night. She said she was tired and Milo
wanted to go out, so I went with him and when I came home, she was gone. I
looked for her all night and couldn't find her. When I finally went back to
the house about 7:00, there she was collapsed in the living. She was rude
and surly and accused me of being out all night with her dad, like we were
dating or something. She was still pulling that garbage today. She spent
the night in that creepy house all alone and then got mad when I didn't KNOW
that's where she would have gone. I keep trying to tell myself that she's
sick...and doesn't know how she's acting..."
Nick looked at her as he drove, then looked back at the road "Don't take
this wrong but, well are you seeing her dad or something? She might be
picking up vibes. She *did* just meet him. Maybe she's not ready to share
him."
