Nick took care of the bill and stood, keeping Kat in his arms so she
could lay her head on his should if he wanted, winking at Julia as
they left and turning to the others "It's time to head back before we
end up having to spend the night here, too tired to drive."
He let the ladies go ahead of him and took the tail end of the group
as they moved out.
The valet got Julia's SUV, Derek and Julia already gone and having
driven his, and Nick let Alex drive. The ride home should put the
kiddo to sleep if he could keep her still.
Kristin hadn't realized how long the day had been until they were on
the way home. Stifling a yawn, she found herself starting to nod off.
As the SUZ hit a larger bump in the road, she jerked awake, realizing
that when she'd nodded off, her head had rested on Philip's shoulder.
Mumbling a quick apology, Kristin was glad that the night covered the
sudden blush which ran across her face. Sitting up straight again, she
couldn't figure out why she was blushing.
