They made it to her room and Nick put her on the bed as
Alex went to the bathroom to bring back a wet cloth to put across Reese's
brow.
Reese stirred and looked at them, only to accept the cloth
with a half grimace and toss it onto the top of her head and lay
back.
It was over. She remembered all of it - even the
part with the vamps.
"Thanks." she murmured, wondering when that look of
'freak' was going to show up in their eyes.
Nick sat at the edge of the bed and looked at the window
and the coming gray of the morning sky "Welcome. Think you can get some
rest now? Feeling okay?"
"Yeah... to both." she replied, laying back to close her
eyes. Sleep sounded damn good right about now "Sorry about your
bike."
Nick chuckled "You're paying me back remember? And
now I owe you one too."
She opened one eye and looked at him. That look
hadn't entered his gaze.
And not wanting to push her luck, she didn't mention it
either and so closed her eyes again and nodded once "Okay."
"You sure you're okay?" Alex asked.
"I'm fine. Just.." Reese answered around a sudden and
large yawn "tired."
Nick nodded at the door and they left. He stopped at
the door and called back quietly "If you need anything just give a
yell."
Reese was asleep by the time the door closed.
"We better get cleaned up and ready." Nick said "Council
is going to be here soon."
