"And now," she continued, bringing the subject out into the light and
 no
longer something either one of them could continue to ignore or put
 off "You
have to make a decision on which House you are going to be a part of.
  There
will be no more jumping between Houses, understood? It's not fair to
 you,
it's not fair to any of us on either team."

Kristin walked with Jane, quiet, listening to what the older woman
had to say. She flinched visibly when Jane told her how her clouded
emotions could get others killed. She certainly hadn't thought that
anything she was considering would have that much of an impact. She
held her tongue until it seemed Jane was finished.

  She did understand what Jane was saying about choosing Houses;
flip-flopping the way she had been was not an option; but, she didn't
know what to say at the moment.

San Fransisco had become somewhere where she felt comfortable, at
home. She was happy there, and felt close to everyone-even Julia, whom
she'd just met. But Boston was home; Jane had been almost like a
mother to her, more understanding at times than she needed to be.
And...this thing with Amber had brought all her thoughts of Ethan to
mind. He'd been so happy when she'd returned here-staying would almost
be like she could be near him, doing something that had made him happy.
Of course, if that was her line of thinking, he'd been even happier to
hear she'd been considering leaving the Legacy all together.

Sighing, Kristin turned to Jane, her eyes clouded. "I know. And I
know I've put you all in a bad place with my indecision." Pushing her
hair behind her ear again, she looked down to her hands, then brought
her gaze back to Jane.

"I know I don't really have the right to ask this, but can I have
tonight? I...need to sort a few things out. I can give you an answer
first thing in the morning."
