Julia had never heard that tone of voice from Derek before but she had always known that he could be a dangerous person to whoever he thought was putting someone he cared for in danger - and right then he believed it to be his unborn child and wife's lives.

And he was succeeding in breeching the barrier.  Little by little his hand was coming through.

It took everything Julia had not to show a reaction.

But the Being had already noticed.

It leaned toward Julia and stage whispered mockingly "He's quite the possessive and protective one, isn't he?"

"You can't hurt me." Julia warned him, blue eyes not meeting his ethereal ones but not showing any fear toward him either.  She knew that to look it in the eyes would open herself up to his suggestive ability "You need the key."

"How right you are." it agreed before smiling slowly "And look at the opportunity your loving husband is giving me."

In the matter seconds - in the time it took Julia to open her mouth to warn Derek  back behind the barrier, the Being had caught his hand and yanked him through, reinforcing the barrier to keep the others away and holding Derek immobile with its hand to his neck and smiling coolly at Julia.

"Now, about that key..."

Julia paled "Let him go."

"Give me the key."

Julia turned her gaze to Derek, gaze desperate.
