Derek had reached Julia by this point and taken hold of her firmly. "Nick," he shouted looking past the Soulchaser. "Get back here and take Julia with you!"
Julia turned to him, her voice low but intense "No! It has to be done like this!" She then looked at the Soulchaser "You know what to do." Then she turned back to the demon, who was already moving against them. "NO!" she yelled, pushing Derek out of the way when the Being would have grabbed for him, even managing to step in front of him. The demon grabbed the key from her just then and sped with inhuman speed toward the seplicur, jamming the key in. Julia put her arm out to stop Derek from running to try and intercept it and, seconds later, the Thing was howling in rage and turning its undisguised head toward her. "Why won't it work!?!" It demanded. "Because," Julia said simply "Only the Keeper can turn the key now." It was part of what she had done when retrieving the key, to make sure that even if the Being got its hand on it, It wouldn't be able to unlock the seplicur. The Being looked at Derek and Its intention was clear. "You have to win it from me." Julia said, also knowing what Its intention was "And hurting him in any way will make sure I not only destroy you but that I do it in the worst possible way imaginable - and it sure as Hell isn't going to get me to turn that key." ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
