Derek watched them for a moment in silence. He had woken the instant his daughter's tiny weight vanished from his chest, his heart pounding with a slight amount of panic. However, it hadn't taken his tired mind long to figure out what had happened.
"She should make more noise." he grumbled after a few moments. Julia looked at him and smiled, before turning to continue to watch Amelia "She wanted to let her Pappa sleep." She ran the tip of her finger against Amelia's cheek and felt awed yet again as their baby girl's fingers found and wrapped around it instinctively while feeding. "Isn't that right, sweetpea?"
