Well done on the site! I like how it communicates like a document but interacts like a web app.
I had issues w/firefox and IE until I trimmed my CSS on each element down to the minimum. In my case, using CSS generation tools can trigger large amounts of unneeded CSS. I'm confident 0.8 will address this, but at the same time getting the performance issues on 0.5 forced me to remove unneeded code. Totally agree about polymer being the foundation of larger frameworks even when the framework is server-side generated! Import elements from a remote url (CORS enabled) and your mind races w/possibilities.
