200 megabits per day = 2600 bits per second. Each NTP packet is about 600-700 bits with overhead. So thats 3 or 4 packets a second. Not a big deal, even for a network connection being supported by a 56kbit analog modem. My pool server averages 30 or 40 packets (sum of receive and transmit packets) a second. The high end of NTP traffic would be the NETGEAR misconfiguration bug that flooded UWM's NTP servers with 250000 packets a second (150 megabits per second). See e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTP_server_misuse_and_abuse Tim. _______________________________________________ pool mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ntp.org/listinfo/pool
