Well, Ask already said what the pool does.  But I'd point out that,
pool issues aside, most (all?) NTP implementations resolve names to IPs
once at startup and use the IP thereafter.  So, regardless of what the
pool does, a long-running client will stick with the IP - and most
clients are probably long-running in this sense.
