That's a while ago!
I have to see if I still have those scripts around as my explanation above is 
not even to me very clear :-)
...
x = time
y = offset compared to my system (a xen vps in a datacenter)
color = delay
It's a couple of java classes doing sntp calls in parallel.
Then it's just a matter of averaging and such.
