Good evening:

Pardon me if this has already been address, but I noticed something that seem odd today while setting up a router for someone.

The site is setup to use the pool for time services using 0-4.us.pool.ntp.org, along with server at another site (the flaseticker below).

address ref clock st when poll reach delay offset disp x~172.30.1.1 192.5.41.209 2 41 64 377 79.385 -25.241 3.010 +~204.2.134.163 187.253.153.32 2 42 64 377 57.781 13.587 1.877 *~199.102.46.77 .GPS. 1 11 64 377 47.795 14.136 5.060 +~129.6.15.30 .ACTS. 1 35 64 377 55.044 13.274 2.970 <<<<<<<<<< -~132.163.4.102 .ACTS. 1 12 64 377 85.732 2.780 2.009 <<<<<<<<<< * sys.peer, # selected, + candidate, - outlyer, x falseticker, ~ configured

When I checked to see if the device had synced its clock, I recognized the two IPs pointed out above. They are NIST servers.

Just curious, but I thought the pool existed to take the load off of the Stratum 1 clocks, but here they are included in the zones now.

Is this expected and sanctioned?

-jay
