Joel, It really did. It crystalized the argument (to me) that the US is on the same path as that of Rome (from freedom/wealth/liberty to redistribution//taxes/controls) which led Rome from being a Republic to becoming an Oligarchy.
Honestly, it really saddens me to see how much of a parallel course the US is following (with that of Rome). But as Franklin said, "we've given you a republic, if you can keep it".
