Sigh.  As Alex will tell you, I have never been very Oscar friendly.
American Beauty and Sixth Sense I will agree on - both were
outstanding.  Green Mile?  Let's just say I checked my watch several
times.  A great cast does not always make a great movie and Tom Hanks
will never be anyone but Forrest Gump in my mind.  And no, that is NOT a
complement.

Haley Osment for best supporting actor - Crock O Shit.  He deserved a
best actor nomination and everyone knows it.  His role was significant
and deserving of best actor in every sense of the award.  A lessor actor
would have turned the film to shit - imagine Jake Lloyd trying to
precociously ham his way through that.

Of course, I'm sad to see Princess Mononke get nothing.  It was ignored
in 1997 after it swept through Japan and ignored during its all too
brief run in the US this year - except by critics wo loved it.  The
soundtrack is one of the best film scores I have ever heard.
