Hello all, I joined this list from a link on a Belle & Sebastian web site awhile ago and then didn't hear anything for a long time. Now that the list is getting active again, let me delurk and introduce myself. My name is Bob Pomeroy. I publish a fanzine called MOE Magazine whenever I get the money and material together. I do a feature called Under Radar for a St. Petersburg, Florida based magazine called Focus (www.eatmag.com) and a jazz thing for www.ink19.com . I've been writing about music for a long time now and thought this list might be a good way to get in touch with other people passionate about music. I'm also trying to keep my ears open to sounds that don't make it down to Florida. Who do I like? Well, I'm pretty happy with Belle & Sebastian. Magnetic Fields are doing great things. I've been a Mekons fan for ages. My zine is named after Moe Tucker from the Velvet Underground (original title: Moe Works at Wal-Mart). I'm also a fan of free jazz types like Ken Vandermark, Peter Brotzmann and Misha Mengelberg. The most exciting musical event I've been to recently was the Border Crossing Festival in Amsterdam. I saw the Posies, Go-Betweens, Magnetic Fields, Dirty Three, Delgados, Daniel Johnston, De Kift, Bellatrix and many others. Part of what made Border Crossing cool was the inclusion of film makers and authors in the mix. The Posies literally shared the stage with a Dutch author. A philosopher opened for Magnetic Fields. It was fun! So now you know a bit about me. I'll pop in from time to time when I think I have something worth sharing.
