hmm, I'm still confused, didn't this branch exist yet?

The only thing I did was:

$ git checkout poppler-0.6
$ git cherry-pick <commit-id>
$ git push

I've done the same thing other times to commit a fix in both branches
without problems. What did I do wrong this time?
