Albert is correct, of course. One thing that Poppler does not do, however, that would improve it's compliance with the spec is to ALSO read/process/manage the XMP-based metadata in a PDF. XMP always takes precedence over the Info dictionary, so in the case where you have updated XMP but not updated Info - Poppler would return the incorrect information :(. While this requirement is optional/recommended in ISO 32000-1 - it is mandated/required in the upcoming 32000-2.
