FIFA said it had given the PSSI “one last chance” in granting an extension to organise elections whilst also fulfilling other regulations under FIFA statutes and code of practices. FIFA remains adamant that Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Toisutta, oil tycoon Arifin Panigoro and former PSSI officials Nirwan Bakrie and Nurdin Halid remain banned from the June election, and that the breakaway league (Liga Premiere, LPI) be brought back under control of the PSSI, which was set up without the involvement of PSSI. Agum Gumelar, chairman of the PSSI's normalisation committee, will be grateful Indonesia has not received a suspension, though he knows the federation may still face sanctions if it does not meet the deadline. “They told us that the PSSI must hold an election before June 30,” Agum told the Jakarta Globe. “I hope that this time we will have an election and finally put an end to the leadership crisis in the PSSI.” The extension means that Indonesia will still be able to vote in the FIFA Congress which takes place tomorrow, even though some Asian delegates have left Zurich in protest at the treatment of former AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam who was suspended after allegations of bribery. http://worldfootballinsider.com/Story.aspx?id=34400
