The collection was amassed over a span of 20 years and over four continents and reflects a lifetime of passion for textiles. The collection is housed in Portland and has been photographed completely and cataloged meticulously with a comprehensive, customized taxonomy using hierarchical tagging. Having photographed and nearly completed our cataloging, we are now focused on creating a browser-based application to demonstrate the collection’s rich history and stunning visual beauty.* * Job Description Blue Rider Design is seeking a developer/s to create an image archive database for searching and curating a textile collection of high-resolution images. The archive project will allow users to search and discover the collection through indexed and tagged information. Users will find design inspiration and educational information about textiles through a comprehensive, hierarchical taxonomy referencing both visual and physical characteristics of the items in the collection. The application will need to be completed by June 2012 when it will be presented in Copenhagen at an archiving conference.
The individual/s in this role will work directly with the manager of the textile archive and team to design and program a browser-based web application implementing functionality and features to interact with the collection. The Software Developer will take an active role in determining the technical solutions for faceted searches and developing data visualizations for color and location/origin searches. The Software Developer will be involved in the full software development life-cycle from concept through to execution of this application.
