Why get rid of them? Just drop gnome1, but keep libgnome1. There are
some programs that depend on libgnome1 and sometimes there is no
alternative program. Or programs that only need it optional.
For example, I often use Soundtracker which depends optionally on
libgnome1. It also works without libgnome1, but it's not very usable
without it (some functions are simply missing) and I haven't found an
alternative to Soundtracker yet.
