I found the source of the crash reading configuration files on 64-bit architectures. It was a 32-bit only assumption. Anyways here is a new port with the patch (a one line diff) which fixes it on my amd64. Should fix it on sparc64 too. I also pushed this patch upstream to the maintainers.
Please confirm that this fixes the problem, and then I think we should be able to import this thing.
