i have never run a -stable all my life ;)
i am always using -current on my notebook (one might say not production)
of course this sole fact doesn't elevate me above the 'average' user you
are mentioning. i certainly hope other facts do ;-)

well, i have found some odd behaviour (odd for me at least).
perhaps i did not make myself clear, i am not bashing the pkg tools,
i am trying to understand them. will not 3.8-stable behave
in a similar way?

sure, if i find a bug, i will use it. but i don't know if this
is a bug or intentional, or still moving target. that's why
i am asking.

i know it seems like noise, but there is always a chance
that some other people did not get it also, so clearing things
up is maybe not time wasted.
