i don't think this is the case. this is a simple web application, distributed in .tar.gz format. http://textpattern.com/dload/textpattern-4.0.3.tar.gz i also tried to download and extract it under non-bsd platforms. gnu tar deals with it with no errors/warnings whatsoever. this is why i am asking: what does this warning mean more precisely, as i know that some tar's (sunos, hpux, linux) might create files which make bsd tar complain in one way or the other. -f -- a self-addressed envelope would be addressed "envelope"
