Well, here is how it was explained to me; please correct me if I'm wrong. FLAVORS are mostly for people who are building their own software from ports, whereas SUBPACKAGES are more often available for pkg install via ftp. And the preferred software install method is via pkg_add. If this is true then ldap should probably be a SUBPACKAGE rather than a FLAVOR, since it's firstly a common gnupg feature (enabled by default in a source install) and secondly gnupg is a common application for regular users who may never install ports. -- deanna at sdf
