Yes, it's a kludge. But, until there is another way to get the full resolution my LCD can handle on this laptop, I don't see it going away. Driving a wide-screen display at 1024x768 when it's designed for 1440x900 isn't ideal. Honestly, though. It was easier to just make the few changes necessary to get 915resolution working, than to modify 855resolution to support the 945 chipsets.
