I think it may be related to the following post on ipw OpenBSD forums:

But, that is just my guess. As you can see there is not much of a follow-up to 
that... I am trying to contact the author of that post, shall see what 
happens. And maybe that will lead someone to a more informed conclusion 
than "it doesn't work" I was able to find so far ;)
