I don't know...Ratpoison looked to me as a bad hack in comparison to Ion. Why won't it work with the Gimp? It seems they borrowed the philosophy, but don't have they same programming skills...I don't know...Looks that way.
One problem I did find with Ion was that Gnome didn't behave too well, so I have KDE, too (because of some KDE applications I like).
