And a quick update, I've located the parallel issue (dumb include guard mix-up on gmic part), so I've reenabled parallel.
Most hickups appear to be gone, most gimp-qt plugins show a preview now (some take sooo long that I haven't had the patience... some computations will be slow without openmp, obviously) Still fishing for okays...
