Personally I mostly use it in cron for backup-type operations where I have
long/short variants: I can run either at any point, but not both together.
Depending on how frequently you want them to run, that can be surprisingly
cumbersome and fragile to express in cron. Instead, I just do something like
"cmdseq 100 <backup short> 1 <backup long>".

A couple of other people have used it for non-cron things, although I don't
know much more than that. I think the Unix way is to give people flexible
tools and let them find unexpected uses for them :)
