Wow, ask and ye shall receive -- thank you! However, time for some bad news - I'm now in the process of relocating/moving my family and it will take some time to get settled. Work on this will slow down a bit until I can find some more time to concentrate. I was able to make a lot of progress and learn a lot in the last couple of weeks (had some free time during the holidays), but a new reality confronts me. I'll check back in as soon as I can get settled, but I think things are looking up for getting ZoneMinder (eventually) ported to OpenBSD.
