I keep forgetting that US readers are used to and therefore expect explicit
context. This may sound as an insult to their intelligence, as one needs to
address them as if they were children or slow adults, but sociological
literature demonstrates that the amount of requided context does have
geographical variants. I am referring to the magnificent work by Erin Mayer in
her book "The culture map". So, whenever my irrational mind screams "stupid" in
the general direction of an US person, my rational mind intervenes, recalling
that it is not their fault but their culture that trained them that way. And
therefore, when in absence of context one would have autonomously inferred the
missing information using the most plausible defaults, one finds himself forced
to state the obvious, at great loss of time and with a heavy heart. Yes, the
latest stable version was used, and the problem is easily reproduced by trying
to install the named package.
