Of note, I was only able to compile vlc this far after building
devel/sdl-image from scratch rather than installing the package because
otherwise it would also look for libSDL.la
I think we need to figure out what's going wrong with x11/vlc before
sdl12-compat is ready. Here is what `egdb bin/.libs/vlc-cache-gen
bin/vlc-cache-gen.core` gets me, in case this helps with figuring out
the issue:
