Did you mean to remove this patch file?

Upon removing it, the build seems to be able to continue, even to the
point of rolling up a package.

After this change, heres some other stuff I ran:

/usr/ports/editors/nedit git:(master*) $ make port-lib-depends-check
/usr/ports/editors/nedit git:(master*) $ portcheck
editors/nedit
