Just a heads-up on the makefile for the ports tree. I always love to have the ports tree installed on one of my labrats and, having received my 4.3 CD sets today, I wasted no time in doing a clean install (i386) and untarring the ports tree.
I then went to /usr/ports and did 'make readmes' and left it run (on a 1.3GHz box it ain't quick!) to completion. On my return I saw lots of: make: don't know how to make _print-packagename. Stop in /usr/ports/xxxx where xxxx is the name of every category directory, e.g. java or www or whatever. lynx /usr/ports/README.html displays a page with none of the category links working. That's because the href looks like: "archivers/.html" Browsing directly to the categories and using the README.html therein works fine to be able to read all the ports details I expect to see. So it is not entirely useless and using vi to insert the missing 'README' in front of the '.html' makes it pretty close to the usual functionality and appearance.
